How we bring a book to your door

Our process is built around care, transparency, and a genuine love for the printed word. Here is what happens behind the scenes when you place an order or request a search.

1. Sourcing and scouting

Our network of scouts attend estate sales, auctions, and private viewings across three continents. We also accept consignment enquiries from individuals looking to rehome cherished collections responsibly.

2. Authentication and grading

Every book undergoes a multi-point inspection: binding integrity, page foxing, plate completeness, and edition verification against established bibliographic databases. We assign a transparent condition grade from Fine to Fair.

3. Cataloguing and photography

Detailed catalogue entries include high-resolution photographs of the cover, spine, title page, and any notable features such as inscriptions, bookplates, or marginalia. This information is available to you before purchase.

4. Archival packaging

Books are wrapped in acid-free tissue, cushioned with custom-cut foam inserts, and placed in rigid mailers or wooden crates for especially fragile volumes. We treat every dispatch as if it were headed to a museum.

5. Tracked, insured delivery

Full-value insurance and real-time tracking are included with every shipment. Domestic orders within Australia typically arrive within three to five business days; international orders are quoted individually.

Common questions about our book service

Absolutely. Our search service is one of our most popular offerings. Provide us with as much detail as you can — title, author, preferred edition, acceptable condition range — and we will scour our network. There is no charge unless we successfully source the book, at which point we quote you a price including authentication and shipping before you commit.
We follow the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association grading standards, adapted with additional photographic documentation. Each book is assessed for cover wear, spine condition, hinge tightness, page toning, foxing, and the presence or absence of dust jackets. Our grades range from Fine (near-perfect) down to Fair (readable but showing significant wear). Every listing includes specific notes on any flaws.
Yes, we regularly work with families, estates, and individual collectors who wish to sell or consign their libraries. We can arrange an in-person appraisal within the Sydney and greater New South Wales area, or you can send us a detailed inventory and photographs for a remote evaluation. Consignment terms are competitive, and we handle all marketing, listing, and shipping on your behalf.
We offer a 14-day satisfaction promise. If a book does not match its catalogue description or you are unsatisfied for any reason, return it in its original packaging and we will issue a full refund including return postage. We want every purchase to feel right, so please reach out to us before returning — we can often resolve concerns directly.
Yes, we ship worldwide. International orders are quoted on a per-item basis because weight, dimensions, and destination affect the cost significantly. All international parcels include full insurance and customs documentation. Transit times vary, but most deliveries to North America and Europe arrive within seven to twelve business days.
